Next Generation 911 Phase 1

Requires all callers be delivered using a digital MPLS network using the SIP protocol.

Since 2016, the State 911 Office has been coordinating with local PSAPs to ensure that the equipment used to answer 911 calls is NG911 compliant. As of 2022, every PSAP has installed and/or upgraded their equipment to accept i3-enabled messaging.

In 2021, the State 911 Office began combining each county’s GIS data and providing a single statewide geographic database used for 911 call routing (ECRF) and location validation (LVF).

WA is ready for NG911 and has several carriers already delivering calls using the SIP protocol.
