Army National Guard

More than 6,000 citizen-soldiers make up the ranks of the Washington Army National Guard. They faithfully safeguard lives and property here at home, while serving our nation in locations around the world.

The Washington Army National Guard is comprised of five Major Subordinate Commands: the 56th Theater Information Operations Group, the 81st Brigade Combat Team, the 96th Troop Command, the 96th Aviation Troop Command and the 205th Training Regiment. Soldiers with the Washington Army National Guard live in every community across Washington State – from Spokane to Seattle, Anacortes to Walla Walla – and have been an integral part of Washington state communities for generations.
