WA EMD is now accepting Pre-Applications for the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Swift Current Grant
The Swift Current Pre-application form and Preliminary Property Lists must be emailed to HMA@mil.wa.gov by March 5, 2026
This funding opportunity is unique. WA will fund the full non-federal share and will prepare the application, including the BCA. It is targeted to the top 10 counties (Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, King, Lewis, Mason, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston, Whatcom) in Washington state that have the highest number of severe repetitive loss and repetitive loss properties for the purpose of acquiring, demolishing, and turning flood-prone properties into open space.

- 2023 Swift Current NOFO Amendment 1 Please note that the FEMA NOFO is intended to speak to the applicant, Washington State. The state submitted its application in 2024. EMD Mitigation is leveraging a FEMA request-for-information (RFI) process to call for local jurisdictions to submit properties for mitigation acquisition, in light of the 2025 storms and flooding.
