The Washington National Guard regrets to announce the death of a Sergeant Quoc Tran, age 26, a California Army National Guardsman deployed with the 81st Brigade Combat Team in Iraq.

SGT Tran died on November 7th, after an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq. SGT Tran was a member Detachment 3, Company B, 181st Support Battalion, located in San Bernardino CA, a subordinate unit of the 181st Support Battalion headquartered in Seattle WA.

[SGT Quoc Tran] Major General Timothy Lowenberg, the Adjutant General of the Washington National Guard, and Brigadier General Oscar Hilman, Commander of the 81st Brigade Combat Team, as well as the entire Washington Military Department extend their deepest sympathies to SGT Tran's family and loved ones.
