LEGAL ASSISTANCE BASIC SERVICES
Basic advice and services on personal legal matters including:
Servicemembers’ Civil Relief Act issues (Deployment, housing and landlord-tenant issues, Consumer transactions, debt collection and identity theft)
Family matters such as adoption, paternity, divorce, custody, support and visitation.
Estate issues such as wills, living wills, advance medical directives, powers of attorney and guardianships.
Consumer issues such as contracts, auto repairs, warranties and bankruptcy.
Real property law such as home purchase or sale.
Veterans’ reemployment rights.
Referral to civilian attorneys for complex legal matters.
Services NOT provided:
Representation in any court.
Private business activities, including rental ownership issues.
Litigation or claims against any government entities.
Prepaid-legal-representation cases such as your insurance company defending you in a tort case.
Contingent fee cases.
Standards of conduct issues.
Legal issues or concerns raised on behalf of a person who is ineligible for legal assistance.

The Office of Legal Assistance (OLA) is open daily Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1630
Clients are strongly encouraged to call 253-512-8262 to make an appointment.
