Organized and Federally recognized 30 September 1940 from new and existing units with Headquarters at Tacoma
Inducted into Federal service 10 February 1941 at home stations
Converted and redesignated 24 July 1941 as the 103d Infantry Battalion, Antitank
Converted and redesignated 15 December 1941 as the 803d Tank Destroyer Battalion
Inactivated 1 December 1945 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey
Redesignated 13 September 1946 as the 803d Tank Battalion
Reorganized and Federally recognized 18 March 1947 with Headquarters at Centralia
Reorganized and redesignated 1 February 1949 as the 803d Heavy Tank Battalion and assigned to the 41st Infantry Division
Redesignated 1 September 1950 as the 803d Tank Battalion
Reorganized and redesignated 15 April 1959 as the 303d Armor, a parent regiment under the Combat Arms Regimental System, to consist of the 1st Tank Battalion, an element of the 41st Infantry Division
Reorganized 1 April 1960 to consist of the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, an element of the 41st Infantry Division
Reorganized 1 March 1963 to consist of the 1st Battalion (Washington Army National Guard) and the 2d Battalion (Oregon Army National Guard), elements of the 41st Infantry Division
Reorganized 1 January 1968 in the Washington Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 81st Infantry Brigade
Withdrawn 1 June 1989 from the Combat Arms Regimental System and reorganized under the United States Army Regimental System
Consolidated 15 April -1 September 1993 with the 803d Armor (organized 1 January 1974 in the Washington Army National Guard) and consolidated unit designated as the 303d Armor to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 81st Infantry Brigade
Consolidated 1 September 2005 with the 303d Cavalry (see ANNEX), and consolidated unit designated as the 303d Cavalry, a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System, to consist of the 1st Squadron, an element of the 81st Armored Brigade Combat Team
Redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 303d Cavalry Regiment
Ordered into active Federal service 16 August 2008 at home stations; released from active Federal service 19 September 2009 and reverted to state control
