On behalf of Governor Christine Gregoire, I am pleased to announce that the State of Washington is joining the family of states with a Youth Challenge Program! The Washington Youth Academy will be located in Bremerton, WA on the grounds of the Washington Army National Guard Readiness Center. This site, surrounded by stands of tall fir and Western Red Cedar trees, will incorporate a new 17,000 square foot administration/dormitory building, renovated existing facilities, and newly remodeled modular classroom buildings to create an attractive and functional campus area. New construction is scheduled to begin in January 2008 and you will be able to see our progress unfold on this website. We have recently selected our Youth Academy Director and will begin accepting applications in the summer of 2008 in anticipation of our first class start in January 2009.
