Washington Youth Academy - Calendar

  • October 2007 – Director hired
  • December 2007 – hire Human Resources Consultant
    • Position will be advertised in October on the Washington Military Department website (www.mil.wa.gov)
    • Interviews will be conducted at Camp Murray at a date to be determined
  • December 2007 – ground breaking ceremony for WYA
    • Bremerton Readiness Center
    • Date and time to be determined
  • January 2008 – start construction of WYA facility
    • Located on grounds of the Bremerton Readiness Center
    • Building will include a dormitory, three class room buildings, office space and a computer lab
  • February 2008 – advertise additional staff positions
    • Positions will be advertised on the Washington Military Department website (www.mil.wa.gov)
    • Interviews will be conducted at the Bremerton Readiness Center at a date to be determined
  • July 2008 – begin accepting applications for 1st class
    • First class scheduled for January 2009
  • September - October 2008 – hire remainder of staff
    • Positions will be advertised on the Washington Military Department website (www.mil.wa.gov)
    • Interviews will be conducted at the Bremerton Readiness Center at a date to be determined
  • October – November 2008 – applicant interviews
    • Applicants and parents/guardians will be interviewed prior to final acceptance
    • Interviews will be conducted at the Bremerton Readiness Center at a date to be determined
  • December 2008 – orientation day for students and parents
  • January 2009 – first class of the Washington Youth Academy
