Washington Youth Academy Director Larry Pierce
Mr. Pierce has a bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a master’s of business administration. He has more than 30 years of experience working in secondary, post-secondary, and adult education settings. His administrative experience includes positions as a Drug Education Specialist/Unit Activity Test Control Officer in the U.S. Army, a division administrator in the community college system, a tribal school superintendent, the deputy director of the WYA, and, currently, the director of the WYA. He is the executive administrator at the academy and responsible for oversight of the organization. Mr. Pierce has received numerous awards for his work including designation as a Distinguished Soldier, listed in Who’s Who Among Outstanding Americans, designated as a Distinguished Alumnus of Pierce College, and he has many awards and certificates for his work with and on behalf of Native American students and Students of Color. He has also served in leadership roles in a number of professional organizations at both the state and national level.
